Factors Related to Teacher-Student Relationship



Abstract
It is the purpose of this study to identify the factors related to the teacher-student relationship in schools of nursing. The total number of subjects in this study were 629 students and 53 teachers from 7 schools of nursing and 2 departments of nursing, College of Medicine in Kyungpook and Kyungnam province.
A teacher-student relationship questionnaire based on J.L. Moreno¢¥s sociometry and 2 semantic differential scale measuring real-self and ideal-self of the students and teachers and measuring the student¢¥s and teacher¢¥s perception of the teachers instructional behavior administered to all of the subjects.
The results of this study were as follows;
1) Overall nature of the teacher-student relationship did not show an ideal relationship and the response of the ideal teacher-student relationship was higher in teachers than students.
2) The student¢¥s negative perception to real-self and real teacher disturbed an ideal teacher-student relationship.
3) Severe differences among RS-RP, IP-RS and IP-RP disturbed an ideal teacher-student relationship.
4) The student¢¥s negative perception to the teachers instructional behavior disturbed an ideal teacher-student relationship.
